View Full Version : How to reset XSI to its defaut settings?
kawallo 09-26-2004, 12:24 AM I am a XSI newbie and I tend to make a mess. Is there a way to reset the default settings, a command, or a file to delete, like the 3dsmax.ini in 3dsmax?
Thanks :)

Good question. I think I screwed something up too, and would like to reset things. For some reason I am unable to open any scene files, even the default xsi samples.

All you should have to do is delete(or rename) the User folder, which is normally found at "C:\users\[USERNAME]\Softimage\XSI_4.0".
This is where any preferences, keymappings, custom layouts, toolbars, custom shaders, etc. etc. will be stored.
Note:
If you've made custom layouts, toolbars, etc... that you don't want to remake, you should copy those files (and any associated files, like bitmaps) to a separate directory first. Then copy and paste them into the new user directory structure that XSI will create.
I lost a few layouts that way.
