View Full Version : Game Art Challenge #10: The Excawitzer
JoeB2C 09-25-2004, 05:26 PM Yes, indeed, it's a cross between an excavator and a Howitzer. You see, in a post apolytic (correct spelling?) world, abandoned Howitzers would greatly available, as would excavators be :). By replacing the digger with a Howitzer cannon, the excavator was transformed into a new type of tank/artillery.

Update. I almost finished the vehicle.
It's at 2856 Polys. It still needs a driver though.

I really like this one. It looks very 'doable' and the previous technology can easily be recognised. The only thing i would suggest is that you could use a lot of the surface area of the digger for ammo storage - i cant see any shells or anything. I would also keep the cab of the digger, and add some armour plating or something - the driver seems very exposed.
Looks good though - keep it up, and i hope you can get it finished! A lot of folks never seem to make the deadline.

Hey joe, it's a great vehicle, but are you sure yer not wasting polys in a few places? Like the treads? It just looks like some of them may be unnecessary.
Keep it up, it looks pretty good

Update: ok, I remade the driver cabin, gave the vehicle armor plating, added ammunition boxes and gave it some new lights.

didnt this vehicle actually exist? ...doesnt the vehicle have to be of ur own concept ?
looking good anyway..cant wait for hte driver and texture.
I think the new driver cabin was a good choice. It's looking more dense and tank-like imo.
Perhaps some plate protection over the upper part of the trax?
Really good work, and still about a 1000 tri's for the driver. Keep it up!

I hope that you've been busy working on a driver and textures, even if the deadline is almost three weeks away it's time to start wrapping it up. :)
Keep up the good work,
