View Full Version : I'm new! Help @ modeling techniques

Hi fellows!

Bhought c4d 8 short time ago and started modeling sum stuff...Now I started modeling a desert eagle... but i don't get it :( ever I try the mesh doesnt look like a weapon... more than an organic thing... :(... Could you help me? E.g giving me sum modeling technique tuts etc.?

its smooth because presumably you have your object within a hypernurb object...you can sharpen edges etc but varying where you put your cuts on the mesh...look very carefully at these examples and see where the cuts are placed..eg close to one another or spaced etc..secondard cuts etc...
anyway the link is in german unfortunately..but a picture tells a thousand words they are not really tuts but follow the examples links should help.

also check out the manual on weighting...might help.

oh well in that case..take a look at this also...again shows what i'm talking about...getting rid of the smooth blob look to nice rounded edges etc.

Or: Just looked a little bit on it... It describes most how to make smooth edges etc. O_O
hmm but i'm looking forward to add sum spline modeling.. .perhaps does that work ;)

you can't really do spline modelling like in some other apps...i guess it depends what you mean by spline modelling?...what you can do though it loft...or use the splines as guides for poly by poly modelling approach..it really depends on the the subject very often and you end up doing a combination of both at certain stages.

really you need to post pics of areas you're having problems with including a description of what you're having problems with...also a wireframe shot of the model or area you're talking about also helps. as at the moment i may well be passing you info that is not really what you're asking for and you may mean something else entirely...need to clear it up a bit more what you mean etc...then shouldn't be to much of a problem to help you out..there are loads of experienced people on here that can help/guide etc.
obviously some of the problems with modelling in 6/7/8 have all been resolved in the release of version 9 which means some of what you maybe asking for is available anyways in another version of c4d.

hmm ok .. today i'll start to remodel the weapon... though i have vacation and im goin to turkey ;) 4 2 weeks.. so i can post a result as soon as i can (or finished ;))
