Because I don't really like the idea of wheels, I'm going with a quadraped.

I'm doing a four-armed robotic pilot... I hope that isn't a problem.

Right now I'm working on the vehicle design. Pilot is basically how I want it, but the vehicle is looking a little too shiny yet... Needs to be a little clunkier, I think. Much clunkier, really.

Anyways, with the two-month deadline I should be able to finish this hopefully.

Hope my concept isn't too far from the challenge rules, anyways...

Just roughing out the basic idea... Still need to make it clunkier, dammit.

Actually, I can probably just take this and make it look like it's made of scraps...

Really nice block-out, Im looking forward to seeing the finished model.. As you said, a bit more clunky and perhaps you could do something about his feet?

I keep thinking about how it would look with added wheels or something else to even out the weight of it (so that it won't sink through mud etc).

That looks well cool! I like the turret design, and the legs look fancy, yet functional.
As for the clunkiness, i dunno - look at the spider walker thing from wild wild west - that was clunkier than anything. Its a bit too old fashioned though. I think that the clunky feel will come from good, jerky animation.

I'm not really into the mechs in this contest, but this one is kinda neat. OH! The reason I'm not into em isn't that I don't like mechs, its just that I wouldn't expect to see em in my view of a post apocalptic world. Thats just me tho. The driver is really neat. and I like the lights. It has a Ratchet and Clank feel to it

way cool! the only thing I don't like right now is the square main cannon, but i assume thats just from the blocking-out process. the headlamps to either side look a little like eyes, not sure if it is intended, but it makes your mech look a lot like the star wars episode II battle droid thingies. those big red tanks might look better lower, too, not sure. Aside from those quibbles, way cool - really lovin the spotlights, am imagining volumetric lighting in a creepy, red-foggy burned out city landscape...sexy! lovin the pilot too, awesome work.
