View Full Version : What are the texture views for in Animate 5.0?

I have been digging through the docs trying to find out how to add textures to models in Animate 5.0 and found nothing.

I just wanted some open GL textures to try and line some things up.

I know this is doable in studio, but I'm wondering why it's even an option in Animate if you can't actually apply a texture. I would imagine it's a cost efficiency thing so pmg didn't have to come up with two different sets of options in the item list.

Anyone have any input on this?

Maybe I didn't look hard enough.

Animate doesn't have the material and renderpart, therefore you can't texture objects.
But if your models are already textured with texturemaps (in Lightwave for instance) you can simply switch to textured view in OpenGL and they should be visible if the images are found (if you have relative paths and use the scenes/objects/images folder structure). Standard mappings like planar, spherical and cylindrical and UV mapping should work.

I don't know how good the support for the other formats like obj, 3ds etc. is though.

Good luck :-)
