View Full Version : Max6 - problem with UVW mapping 3D maps

I switched to max 6 and now I can't get the UVW mapping to properly project a 3D map (eg. noise, planet, smoke) on an object. In the viewport everything seems to be working normally, but when I render my image, not a single UVW modifier has any effect on how the 3D maps are projected. It always is rendere the same way, no matter what I try. Has anyone a suggestion what the problem could be?

Set the UVWmapping to "uvw to xyz" and set the 3d map to explicit map channel, should work.

Thx for the advice, but I'm affraid it isn't working. It seems that I got some setting wrong or something. In max 5 I didn't have any diffuclty to use 3D maps with any UVW mapping type and if I'm mistaken that didn't change with max 6. Also in searching through this forum thise problem doesn't seem to pop up as well. I think I will re-instale the whole thing and hope for the best...

Check so that you have the same mapping channel on both the UVW-modifier and the 3d map, not sure why it could be otherwise...

David, i have the same problem and i didn't find the solution.

Other problem is the 3d map in the viewport is not the same the 3d map in the render. Very anoying.
