Can anyone tell me what technology was used to develop the interface of Modo? It doesn't seem to be Java, so what cross-platform technology is it?

Thanks

It's all custom. It's not platform independent in the way that Java is (the "write once, run anywhere" philosophy, where one binary runs on any Java VM, although often compromising speed for portability). Instead, modo exists as separate compiled apps for Windows vs. Mac to ensure maximum performance. The underlying abstraction layer that keeps this simple is our own proprietary design, which allows us to very easily add new high-level functionality equally well to both platforms.

That's somewhat simplified, but you get the idea.

Ok, thanks for the answer.
I assume these custom widgets are drawn with OpenGL, right?

Well, the ones in the GL views are.

Any plans to make this UI technology available to others?
Any publicly available libraries (e.g. QT) involved?

Thanks,
Markus
