This Oct 21, KCAGA brings Discreet and Shane Griffith to Kansas City to demonstrate 3ds max 7. This full featured demonstration will be held in a large movie theater in Overland Park, and drinks/snacks will be provided. We'll have door prizes as well. The event starts at 6:30pm with a chance to mix/meet in the lobby, and moves to the theater for a presentation by 3D Connexion, a Logitech company that creates ergonomic and 3D mouse devices. Then Shane Griffith will demonstrate 3ds max 7. We also plan to screen member Nathan Fariss' appearance on HBO's making of Day After Tomorrow - Nathan now works at The Orphanage and was part of the team that did effects for this movie.

ABOUT KCAGA:

KCAGA: Kansas City Animators and Graphic Artists

I'd like to invite you to join Kansas City's 3D user group, a free group that meets monthly and has an online message board. With over 220 members, a wide variety of experience and viewpoints make up the tenor of the online discussion, held via the online forums of Yahoo Groups. With meetings once per month we explore software, hardware, show off work and discuss issues relevant to 3D animators, as well as 2D digital artists, traditional animation and art, and related issues such as video editing. There are no dues, fees, meeting charges or any other costs associated with the group. You can join or leave at any time.

To join the group, point your internet browser to http://groups.yahoo.com (http://groups.yahoo.com/) and create a "yahoo profile" for yourself if you do not already have one. It is fast and free, and required to join any of the yahoo groups. Then you can point your browser to http://groups.yahoo.com/group/kcaga (http://groups.yahoo.com/group/kcaga) and click the "join this group" link. If you want to be notified of events and meetings, make sure to join with your email settings for the group set to being sent
either "daily digest" or "all email".

Hi Jim,

Very glad to hear about this event and appreciate your post. I hope that I can make it. Is there going to be an admission charge?

I signed up for a membership with the yahoo group you mentioned and am awaiting approval. I have been wondering for some time if there were any such groups here in Kansas City and am excited to find that there are.

Look forward to talking with you more.

Hi Tim,

It's a free event - as are all of the KCAGA events. It's a principle of the group. KCAGA has never taken money from any member in all it's 11 years for anything.

Thanks for joining the forums and introducing yourself!

I'll definatly be there. I live in Manhattan, but sounds like its worth a road trip.

I don't think I knew about the KCAGA until now. I'm headed over to sign up now.
