Title: Old Unused Passage
Name: Ales 'artie' Horak
Country: Czech Republic
Software: Photoshop
Old unused passage, where stories about past things come true.
I want to insert a feel of humans past, lost memories and nostalgic atmosphere to this picture. Where sun can bring back lost ideals...

WOW!! OMG!! Is it really 2D?? Great mood and atmosphere! I lov it. If you could do a distant figure, it will have a more mystic feel to it. More story to the already powerful composition.

Wow, great textures and lighting. Very very nice. The highlites on the vines(?) seem to suggest that they're either wet or slimy. I'm not sure if that was intentional though.

wow that's really awesome. I love the detail you put in every part of your illustration. Curious though, as I look at this piece,I get no feeling at all, like it's all dead... which fits with the theme :)

Thanks to all for comments :)
southcom, predator: Distant figure? There is only the one living person in(out) the picture. You :)
Dan: yep, you can feel death, or life. Despair, or hope. Whatever you want to feel. :)
Amazing work! how did you do those roots near the camera?

Stunning work! great use of textures; perspective and lighting give it a quiet dramatic effect.
there's just that sketchy tree on the bottom that looks a bit distracting and very different in style from the rest;

love the lighting and colour in this one. interesting angle/perspective too.
I agree with roger , the tree looks a bit strange and some of those hightlights are out of place considering the direction of light.
kinda dream like..would like to see more

I always say that a good landscape photograph/2D painting is one where while watching it, you want to actually BE THERE.
this picture is done brilliantly and while doesn't entirely make me want to BE there, it is incredibly luring..
very good job!

Look like a well worn piece of wall to be... dry and dusty one.

I can't stand photoshop's brushes but I see people submit unbelievable works of digital art and they are done with photoshop!
I can't even think of giving up painter's functionality for photoshop's tools.
Anyway, great work of art, wish you all the best in your future works.

It's outstanding piece... Fantastic job, man!
Anyways, could you tell off some of the techniques you used? Some brushes, especially for those "lines"...
Artie
10-22-2004, 08:39 PM
Lines? I am not sure what do you exactly mean. Can you be more specific, please? :)
AbueroAllenstein
10-23-2004, 06:13 PM
Nevermind, ain't able to specify what i mean :) Just tell of some techniques you used, please :) Maybe some brushes?
Artie
10-24-2004, 09:27 AM
I am using only three brushes usually, hard brush for contures and details (front tree on the picture), hard airbrush for shading, etc. (upright corner of wall) and soft brush for gradients (sky). Other brushes from time to time. :)
