*Create a new avatar by combining two (or more) existing avatars

Welcome to the cgtalk sketch group.

We will try to post one of these topics once a day for your enjoyment.

These are the rules:
* Post only your FINAL piece on this thread, based on the topic on the thread.
* 640 x 480 / 480 x 640 OR 800 x 600 /600 x 800
* They can be done on any medium.
* If you wish, you can add a brief text description about your piece.
* Only original compositions. No "tributes" or plagiarizing.
* The topics will be posted every day between 10:00 - 12:00 am US EST.
* The artist also has to post total length of time it took (Thanks Clanger for the idea) and program used.
* Only final pieces can be posted on the thread. They must have been done AFTER the topic has been announced.
* Any piece caught breaking the rules will be taken off the thread.
* The topics will be picked at random from the list on this thread
(The author will be given credit). So guys keep them coming.
*You can add multiple entries, but please dont post WIP (Unless you intend to update them). NEW RULE!
* Ill post ANOTHER thread to quantify and track WHO has participated the most on these threads.

Good luck

-Roberto

Create a new avatar by combining two (or more) existing avatars???

Of our own or mess with other poeple's?? i'm in a little haze on this one -- like help me, i'm lost in the fog and there very little air in here-- :)

Hey! Nice topic.. but i think i wont participate cuz i dont have a avatar...
By the way if u can tell me how to put one it would be great! =)

-Cheers..

Since it's not an "avatar lovechild", I'm guessing the goal is to make a Frankenstein's monster type avatar. Take parts of two or more avatars to make a new one.

@Xanthan Gum, you have to have made 30 posts on CGTalk before you can post an avatar.

This baby took 1 hours 45 minutes.. Photoshop and mouse...
5 avatars in one.... can u guess who?

"In some road-somewhere there is a avatar warrior ready to defend those in need"

I always have problems creating a backround... I can make my main character but backrounds are hard... I think I will try to see if I can fix this one so it does not look so flat.

EDIT: ADDED A SKY.

Supervlieg
09-22-2004, 02:26 PM
hey zeroeefx, feel free to use anyone in the mashup including yourself if you want to.
In my case I used the avatar of Sir Patrolco, Goro and Me.

Sagii
09-22-2004, 02:29 PM
ok I fixed up the backround some.. put in some sky... total time now 2 hours Photoshop and mouse.

5 AVATARS in one..

http://pages.ivillage.com/cgsketch//avatarmesh3.jpg

EDIT :: I fixed the backround again... took away the grass and just put colors.... I erased the original posting because it was not as good put the one with the sky as post one... and this third modification as post two.. I did not want to have 3 of the same image.. that is why.

ANY SUGGESTIONS? I Like the second one better.. i think opinions? thanks

Ok, I know this isn't all that great, but I wanted to get in an early entry. This is done with MS Paint and mouse - about 5 minutes (and it looks it!) BWA-HA-HA.

How many avatars can you spot?

robinayles
09-22-2004, 06:44 PM
How many avatars can you spot?I think perhaps 5? We have Mustard Wash (head), Andrewley (halo), creative destructions (elephant trunk), hands (Supervlieg maybe?), and the suit...I'm guessing jeroentje? How close am I?

edit - oops I think I see Alice's horns...and captain chapo may be right - does the suit belong to Sir Patroclo?

Goro
09-22-2004, 06:45 PM

You mean I should just not put a backround? I dont have a tablet.. I wish I did, but it is all with the mouse.

EDIT: oK I took off the backround to see how it looked... better?
I apologize that I posted this sketch 3 times.. but since I had the time to work with photoshop today I wanted to take advantage of that and make it better... practice makes perfect.

Meta_nerd: You could have selected the bud then hit Ctrl+U. Then hit colourize. It would have changed the color in like 2 seconds instead of 20 mins. Unless there was something else preventing you from doing this.

Nr.1 I think he actually says " +2min"...
Nr.2 It does involve just a bit more than simply tweaking the colors with Hue+Saturation!
Nr.3 WHO THE HECK IS THAT SUPPOSED TO BE?!? Huh...looks absolutely AWESOME, but...eh....I think I can sorta see drawmonger in there...if I'm not wrong...but then!?

However, Chris, absolutely stunning work!

meta_Nerd

I actually pressed "L" then selected the bulb. then pressed "ctl+alt+d" then "3" & "enter". Then "ctl+h" and then "ctl+u". Adjusted the colors. Then selected the areas of blue that would get red back into them pressed "ctl+alt+d" then nudged the selection a bit and proceded to "ctl+u" again to bring some red back into the blue. When that was done I selected the parts of the red leaf and pressed "ctl+alt+d" then "ctl+u" and gave a bit too much blue back into the redness. So I had to press "ctl+shift+f" and fade some of it out untill It was reasonable. This all took about 2min. That includes uploading .

Hope this helps ..... :) :scream:   (JK) thanks for the info.

Photoshop 2 hrs.
I don't post all that often here. Actually, I don't think I have posted a piece of work yet and I have been on the board for over a year. This image caught my attention. Why do the image on the right remind me of the "Incredibles" main character?

This is going to be another topic where its going to be hard to pick only one for favorite sketch! WOW! So many good ones here.

ilikesoup - love both of your entries!
stevev- thanks. You're in Lake Macquarie? I didn't get outside of Sydney when I visited down under this year, but I did see "Madame Macquarie's Chair" :)
downwardspiral - LOVE IT!...would even be funnier if it was hanging upside down like madeinuterus!
Art2 - spectacular!

And the left one: "Puss in boots" from Shrek 2?The avatar I based the design on is from Floyd Bishop.
The photo I used for both images is jschleifer's avatar.
The image on the left is puss-n-boots - Pinoy McGee's avatar.
The images on the right is based on baby's avatar.

robinayles: Well, iliksoup, ... Im glad you have legs but you really should do somehting about that banana on your head! :p jk he is looking freakier by the second, great addition of Captain Kirt!
elmasfeo: I agree with everyone else, FREAKY. Kinda funny how he looks happy though.
Alice: Those are great! Gotta love the lovebabies! Kirt has been busy hasnt he.
Squarecloud: Great pic!. I always wondered what I would look like as a Saint in a Suit.
Goro: Great as always man! Glad you are back! Looks like some kind of freaky superteam, and Supervliegs expression is hilarious.
Opeth: Nice idea!
andrewley: Great Combo! You mashed those together very well. pssst. one of my favorites.
Goul: Great combination too. His expression makes me laugh.
UnlikelyCorny: Lazy Bastard!! funny though.

robinayles, andrewley, sagi, opeth, alice, mustardwash - thanks for your comments! I really appreciate them!

patroclo, teagan, art2 - I feel honoured for being included in your pictures! I think I have a difficult-to-include avatar, jejeje, but I will change it soon :) . great ones!
edit: avatar changed, if someone feels curious, my previous avatar was this one (http://gaitasfritas.250free.com/miniint.jpg)

sagi_13 - don't worry about backgrounds, I find them difficult to draw, too. how did you made the grass in the first image? I'm not sure if you wanted him to look like standing on a hillside on purpose, if you did, you can stop reading, if you didn't then I think that you should've drawn the horizon line more horizontally, that's all

dargon - excellent idea! everyone everyone

sir patroclo - I specially like the way you draw hands, that's a great picture, a little frightening... responsability you say?:scream:

taron - wow! ...and WOW! I love it

ilikesoup - very funny, lol :D

scott harris - you guys are CRAZY thanks! fear only non-crazy people, there's something wrong with them

The Ton - I can only see a red X...

Just to let you know. Photoshop has always had more than one undo.

multiUndo - "ctl + alt + z";
multiRedo - "ctl + shft + z";

you may have to set your undo limit in the preferences. I think the max is 99.

The Undo(redos) are actually moving up and down through your histories, but it works as the same thing.

Hope this helps.:D

oh yeah older versions have tons of undos too... you have to open your HISTORYgo to windows history..
you can do ONE undo with CTRL z but if you go to history you can click on the last action and click the little trash can at the bottom and that should undo it... there is a way to have up to 99 but I forget... if you need more explanation SEND me a private message in caseI dont see your post ok?
