Title: Louvre1622-by-night
Name: Tchook
Country: France
Software: Arnold, Maya, Photoshop

This is another render of le louvre in 1622 but from a top view and with a weird early morning light
The historical background is as
fake as possible since i had no document showing
this area.

beau taff tchook,

This is incredible! Only one thing bothers me a little bit (wich is typical for CG architectural renderings): the lack of life. It looks beautiful, but it also looks kinda "dead" to me. I would expect some horses and people in a scene like this. But otherwise it's absolutely stunning.

HapZungLam-----> its 1 or 2 days of work for this one since i already have the modeling and texturing a lot of building you can check info on this thread http://www.cgtalk.com/showthread.php?t=170115

un an.

XTRA---->You are totally right this picture looks dead to me too, i try to fight the dead impression but since i draw character like 4 year old kid....it s quite a problem .

You can see the elemts i ve used in the attached file

wow.... dood. Well, I love it. It has amazing atmosphere. The light that reaches up the walls inside the courtyard area doesn't seem to have the rright falloff, in my opinion. Seems a little too bright. Excellent work though. You inspire me.

voila mon avis :p

bonne continuation

Nice matte..

The sky in the background seems a bit grainy compared to the foreground stuff..maybe if you mimic the noise/grain in the foreground it might blend together better

09-23-2004, 11:16 PM
Really nice! It really gives life to 16th century paris. Amazing details!
My only comment would be that the light in the courtyard appears really bright. Almost as if there's some 100watt lamps lighting the front :) And I believe they didn't have anything like this back then...

Scene is wonderful. But, in my opinion, grainess of the sky spoils it a bit. And some sort of webbish crackles in the upper right part of the image (in the sky, just above the tower) hit my eye - just got confused a little while thinking what's this could be :)

Tuba/bjoern------>Arnold is a render software

Mlkdesign--------->Yeah thx for checking wy website, Costa Gavras is one of my favorite director.

J.Nieuwland--->You are right

Thekkur-------->Argh you got me....Yeah this thing bother me also, it is a real problem.
I ve tried to put the light in the building but it was worth, i try to put fire camps but
it looks llike the whole thing was on fire, i tried to put trees to hide the light source, but
the image looked messy so...here i am

Sagroth------> its a pattern i use to catch highlights, and i kinda like it....;)

thx again everyone, my website will be updated ( i hope very soon now :argh:) with a wip movie of le louvre from basic shapes to final render and some matte painting ive done last year

a weird early morning light
hope you enjoy it Enjoy, yes! A great piece. I really like the river view you use in the 'making of' movie.

I hope you have some way of using these skills to earn a good living.

One point, though--The Louvre is on the north shore of the Sienne, so early morning light would be coming from the East--the right in your view, not the left. Or is that the moon behind the clouds?
