Wonderful, now Lucas can follow in Tarantino's shoe's and do the single disc, single edit, 20+ hour Star Wars movie. Doubtless he'll claim this was his original intention all those years ago back when Forth was used to drive his motion control rigs... Plus it gives him time to do another pass over the movies (I've lost count of how many) and remove those pesky remaining "real actors" - is it me, or is this a sneaky way to stop paying actors percentages? ;-)

Read the FAQ. It's for High-definition movies.

But I think using it for longer movies, albeit of lesser quality, is questionable. You wouldn't
want people complaining your movie looks like crap on a HDTV if it ain't high-definition?
I was reading some where that sony claims that adventually blue ray disc will hold 80 to 100 gigs.

The difference between high-definition and standard video is night and day.
In my opinion, nobody should put anything but a HD movie on it.
If I buy a HD movie, then find out it's not HD, I'm going to be pissed and somebody
gonna get sued for misleading me into buying it in the first place.

I hope Sony or whoever makes these gets it into their heads that these disc needs scratch proof protection, because some of my VHS tapes have lasted longer than some of my DVDs.

Blu Ray discs are going to be using a new tougher coating licensed from Blu Ray partner TDK. Evidiently they demo'd it by taking a black marker to a BR disc and it wiped away with no problems.
I don't really care much for Blu Ray recorders right now. It's not like I have $3-4000 laying around to pay for being an early adopter. If you want to record HiDef you are better off going to D-VHS right now for $550.
