amazing, is this done with photoshop only?

the lighting looks excellent and the DOF looks so realistic too, when I saw this piece for the first time, I really thought it was done in 3D!

So sweet. If my 3d looked half as good as your 2d does, I'd be very happy. I'd love to know more about how you went about creating this work of art.

I think I have found myself some new wallpaper....keep up the great work.

I cant beleive my eyes. It's spectacular. I tought it's 3d at first sight, but i realised it's not :). I don't understand how could you paint something like this. Amazing!

I have given you a 5.

Hummm. I still refuse to believe it's *just* 2D. It can't be. I believe you used parts of photos.

Does anyone notices this recent trend? 2D looking 3D and 3D looking "less real" then some rencent 2D works?

its been said over and over, but veyr nice lighting and atmosphere to reiterate

I would like ot see a faint background, a few trees, really faint though, to give it a more "traveled" look, like where he's been, hes on his way away from there, I dunno though, really nice!

Very nice sense of amosphere! At first I thought it was a 3d render, or is it?
Good work, could be a bigger format!

Nice 3-dimensional look! Nice atmosphere to this piece as well. Too bad the image is so small; it's hard to appreciate the full impact at this size. Great work, though.

thanks~:)
I feel very honored to have so many support from you.
Many people think it is done in 3D. Actually I made it in photoshop. It cost me 5 days. Every single thing in this drawing is in a separate layer. The most tricky part is the rock. I studied for two days and did a lot of research on the real photos to understand its characteristic. It is also hard to realize the lighting. I tried many different of lighting source. Finally I dediced to use this kind of saturated lighting. I am quite satisfied with the bug. It looks so happy. I want to carry this message to everybody. Hope it can make you happy too.
Again thanks everyone!

"what are ur SSS settings, how did u get that feel?" thats the first question that popped to my mind, then i read "i thought this was 3D" while searching for wires and i was like? "hey this is 2D? gotta be a manipulated photo!!" after that i was just browsing to check the replies on how this was done, and i figured.. theres no new SSS shader and render out there, there is no manipulated photos, there is just pure talent, lots of work and very good color control.

lovely piece congrats for the award u deserve it :)

I like this style a lot, but it reeks of Pixar's "A Bugs Life". All in all, great lighting and rendering. I think I would have liked to see more rim and backlighting on the bug there. Maybe pose him throwing up a buttrocker hand sign, with his head lowered... heh. Just kidding. Great work.:)
