in case anyone asks

I checked this scale using Rhino.

Any animation done in Poser would need props and sets scaled up by a factor of 500 when brought into Cinema4D.

Also:

Sets and props can be imported into Cinema4D as Poser objects, then using Structure:Make Editable they will become Cinema objects. (any animation data will be then lost)

For the purpose of mixing objects, however, it is important to keep the scale of 1:500 in mind, especially when dealing with complex sets that Poser has difficulty with and also when mixing animation from more than one plugin: eg, Poser + Messiah + Mocca (assuming the plugin will work in XLR8)

The propack hosting plugin will not be Version8 compatible
CL is releasing a new updated plugin after they recoup some of the investment in the new poser5 with its cloth and hair dynamics engine.

any one who gets MOCCA may want to learn CA using it
but right now im sticking with poser pro for CA rendered in cinema

I'd like to see that happen for P5, but I think it'll be a long time coming.

Pity about the propak plugin... :(

check the Curious labs Website
poser5 is ready to ship later this month
with all the new hair and cloth dynamics

Unfortunately poser5 has NO hardware accelaration
so a fancy NIVIDA graphics card will make NO difference
with real time screen redraws during cloth physics calculations
Nor wiil dual processors.
many in the poser community who are used to the instant gratifaction once offer by poser
,are in for a rude awakening!!

I'm sure the new render engine will make up for that significantly...

But since I'm not a very big fan of compossiting it'll be a struggle for me...

I'm still leaning toward Messiah for character work.

the new" firefly" raytracer engine wont do anything to help speed up your screen redraws after you have added that new geometry based strand hair
to a poser figures head and it wiil only render on ONE processor so no help from Dual Processor machines.
and cloth physics are hard enough with hard assistance
its going to be agonizing for many with no hardware graphics assist.

I will stick with poserpro4 for my CA imported into cinema work for now
and wait for the new OSX C4D poser plugin befor getting poser5

there was talk of including SubDivs in Poser, but the new word is that it's only rendertime... which is pretty worthless.

I'm fearing for Poser's future with this release...

I think its future is solid
it has a fiercely loyal user base
but many long time users have NEVER dealt with the patient mans work flow required to do cloth physics.
and the 3% of us that use it for character animation work is not likely to grow in numbers when new users are faced with 20 hour render times for 6 second animation clips using cloth dynamics. :surprised
