Title: Room With A View
Name: Terry Riyasat

This was my 1st thorough attempt at trying to light an architectural interior with MR for Maya in 2004.

It looks nice, I have a few suggestions though. Your shadows are WAY too black, lighten those up a bit, especially under the tablea and the sofas. There seems to be a bit too much occlusion going on in the corners, especially where the walls meet the ceilings, did you use the Dirtmap shader for those areas? If not I'm assuming it's coming from the final gather, which you should tone down a bit for better results. A softer, more natural blend would be in order. The material for the couch looks rather odd to me, I think the issue is oversaturation causing them to look unnatural. The floor material looks a bit blurred and has some artifacts in it in some areas, I'd suggest using a higher resolution image for the texture and get rid of those artifacts, it looks like bad jpeg compression. Good luck and hope that helps.

I think the outdoor picture is a bit to dark och hight contrast try to make it a bit brighter. It almost doesn't look like there is no window. Add som curtains as well.

I think the sofa looks really soft and inviting.

I tried to archive my thoughts in photoshop.... didn't get to satisfied with the windows.

Hope you don't mind me altering the picture...

nice room. love the table. Seems like the windows have too much molding round them and the rest of the room lacks in detail. good work.

Thanks for the comments!
Yeah Firas I notice that there arent very many interiors images done Maya. Well there arent many that are posted here at least. The render time was aprox 45 minutes redered at 820 by 486.sampling rate was 1 and 3. It was rendered at home on a p4 1.6 w768 ram. I also did a dirtmap pass which took around 15 minutes. If your intrested in more info on lights I can let you know.
