Just wondering if it's possible to do or to fake ambient occlusion with only using Maya's default renderer? Or something similar. I'm having a problem where I need a separate shadow pass, but so far with maya, I can only render out shadow's that have been "cast". I also need the dark part's of each shader to be rendered as well, and I cannot figure out how to do it!

Right now my solution is to apply a white Lambert with a diffuse value of 1 to my entire character and render a pass of the character. This is far from exact, but the only workaround I have come up with so far. I don't have the option of using other render solutions either.

Thanks in advance for your help

The RayDiffuse plugin is what you are looking for.
