Title: The Beggar And The Puppet
Name: Antonio Ares Gastesi
Country: Espana
Software: Photoshop
This image was done to participate in the Machine Flesh 2D Challenge, from CGTalk. After several aproaches to the subject, I decided to develope this concept. I began scanning a pencil sketch, and all the process was later done in Photoshop 8.

This is amazing! A little disturbing but still amazing! It really reminds me of my trip to India where I saw road side peddlers selling puppets.

Hello, good painting, but it is of man to the happy air!! despite
everything what arrived to him more limps cranial, before arm to tear,
A you it voluntarily makes its to reach a technology superior and to
thus show a puppet virtual to live? can you develop your concept in
addition to made which is of flesh and mechanics....

HEY MAN COOL WORK THERE.
bUT, ON THE PAPER ON HIS SIDE, SOMETHING IS WRITTEN IN Hindi.
All I can understand is "is Ullu Ne Mujhe..." which translates as This Owl... DId something to me...
Does that have any significance??

I loved this in the 'machineflesh' challenge and really felt for you when you missed out on submission... i my opinion it would have been in with a great chance of winning...
It's a fantastic piece and all the development work on your machineflesh thread is beautiful...

Hello, guys! Thank you all for your possitive comments. Due to a bad step on the Machine Flesh Challenge I couldn't participate on it, but I'd really like to do! I'm anxiously waiting for the next challenge... I really appreciate all the comments of all of you (spetially of FlyingP, who followed my thread daily, and of Duddlebug, good, good partner at the challenge..) For Devarshy: probably, you are the only one who can read hindi in this forum (maybe Nileshxyz also); the text was taken from the Web, and I don't know the meaning, but the mood is plenty of India, becouse my brother lives in Mumbai, and I've visited the country several times.
I'm very glad to see this pic on the front page. This means a lot for me, becouse people who judge this is really worthy. So, thanks to moderators, and hope will soon find another challenge in the CGTalk!!

For me there is a sense of magic and whimsy in this picture, even though it says a lot on it's own you got to create a story for it.....Please

I have to say great work, as I was exploring it, it gave me the creeps :applause:
I made up myself a story to the pic - I hope you dont mind - the nulls at the puppet's hands/neck/pelvis lead me to the idea that the beggar is an 3d animator/artist and the apperature sucking out his brain (?) is the computer with which he controls the puppet. the fact that he is a beggar could be the result of aggressive price dumping? ;)

I never do this--but I have to commend this work. That you didn't win the competition is a testament only to the limited perception of the judges and bias towards technical perfection over concept. Inspired; bravo.

I commend you on a great story-telling piece. My only problem is his right hand, as it seems unfinished. The absence of it pulls my eye toward that area. A couple of fingers shown under the left arm would have sold it for me. Still, a nice piece.

Crazy Idea and you Visualize it right.
I was going to give a comment that I wish I'd see more blood but then I took a look at the Begger and you're absulotly right...No Blood left :)
Wow, that's by far the most interesting piece of art I've seen in a while. I stared at it for a good few minutes. Everything is excellent.
