not really sure where your problem is, but I never save AI files, that I know will go into MAX, over ver7. I've found that the newer versions can do weird things with importing.

When your trying to import AI files into Max, save your Illustrator work at as version 8.0 (its under the save as function) and then you will be able to import the line art into max.

Hope this helps

Aside from saving as a version 8.0 Illustrator file there are some other things that you need to do...

- Convert all type into outlines (done through CTRL+O)
- You must remove all brush styles from your shapes

Once you have done this, you will have no problems at all at importing Illustrator files into Max.

Just wondering, does anyone remember a tutorial that showed how to clean up the segmentation that can occur when importing an illustrator shape?
