ok, mighty joe has done it again. While playing kickball with my scanner i think I bounced it the wrong way and now it won't scan right.
The resulting images show strange looking bands of green and blue. It's very scary, see below.
Here's what I know:
-At a higher resolution scan, the bands become more frequent, but smaller.
-I recently made a switch from win 98, to win 2000. I believe my drivers are up to date.
-The motor/pulling-gears began making a funny grinding noise, so I grabbed my trusty screwdriver and tore into the beast, adding some more grease to the gears and such. The noise is now gone, but the bands remain.
-I'm using a visioneer paperport 5300, connected parrallel, and up till now it's given me no problems (for 3 years) other than a conflict which an hp printer 932c. I made the two of them sort out their differences in sudden death.
A friend also had this problem using a cheap compact scanner, simmilar bands. She was using USB and win 2000 I think.
questions:
anyone else had this problem?
is this the result of buying a cheap scanner?
is this software or hardware related?
can it be fixed without a sledghammer?
can it be fixed with a sledgehammer?
Thanks guys, I know someone out there knows something about this. I smell a conspiracy. :)
