I have a tiff image as shown, with alpha.
I want only the logo to show, over my metal surface.
but rest of my surface always renders black.... why is it not using the alpha.
I trried connected to useaplah, transparency - nothing works.

- Is it an LZW compressed TIFF?
- If so, that might be the problem.
- Mental Ray does not support LZW compressed TIFFS.

thanks edharris for the reply.
but i kept on finding the solution and finally found it.
a very easy and simple way.
so i thought i`ll share it with others too.
-Use a MIX2COLOR node, connect ur Material (phong or lamert etc) into MIX2COLOR`s base color node. (by default its connected to the scene Materials surface node.
-Connect ur texture image into MIX2COLOR`s color1 node.
-Open MIX2COLOR properties and change MODE to DECAL
-Make sure u also tick the Multiply Alpha option.
and this should give u DECAL on ur surface.
from here u can change the surfaces looks by applying textures freely to difuse and ambient , while having the decal texture on.
Sorry about the bad compression of the image below :P.
