Title: A Snapshot Of My Books
Name: Scott Ellwanger
Country: United States
Software: 3ds max, Photoshop

This is a model of part of a study with some books and bookends on the top part of a desk. I was just wondering what people think of this screenshot (especially professionals). I'm trying to get something close to a photoreal. What should I do better? Does anyone think I have a shot at getting a job making this kind of stuff (whether texturing, modeling or lighting)? I'm just a college student trying to find my way in the world and could use a little guidance.

This is modeled and rendered in 3ds max 4. Extra lighting effect done in Photoshop.

Good use of DoF, though I think you have to increase quality because you are getting artifacts in the background.

The stapler looks a little too shiny...

Other than than... photoreal

Thanks for your help.

I've redone that stapler texture about 10 times, it's good to know I still don't have it quite right. I've started to loose perspective after redoing it so many times. I'll definately increase the quality of the DoF and pay stronger attention to DoF artifacts in the future. Thanks again.
