I have a dude that I'm working on, he's got a ponytail, and so does the biped. Well, everything is fine, when he walks and stuff, but the ponytail wont just "hang and sway" if you know what I mean. Is this something that you have to do on your own, by hand, or is this a skinning issue, cause I haven't skinned my character, and he works just fine with the biped file. I'm working in Motionflowmode and MAX won't let me handanimate the ponytail. I'm kinda new into animation characters, but everything has been cool until now...

What to do?

Thanks / Tobbe

I'm not sure I know what you mean.

I understand the character has a ponytail and the biped has extra bones in the head to cover the extra mesh which is the ponytail. If it's so, you're supposed to animate the ponytail by rotating its bones. When the character walks / stands still the ponytail hangs and sways as long as you animate that effect, of course.

If your bone technique doesn't work, you can always try modeling the ponytail in a relaxed position and then use the "flex" modifier to give it an automatic sway effect.

Cheers.
