Hi guys.

I'm having a lot of trouble modelling cars with grills and air ducts on. I cant get sharp shapes and extrusions correctly. Can anyone offer any modelling techniques for these parts please? I use lightwave 3d.

I have attached an image of a car I saw recently that shows the parts I'm having trouble with

Thanks alot for any help

Ant

If I was you I would post an example of what you already have/tried. So people can go from there where it could be improved.

Why not try to maxe a flat sideview, and extrude that outwards. Then narrow the blades. That should give you a decent start you can tweak.

I would recommend that you checkout the McLaren modeling tutorial on www.simplylightwave .com.

Use bandsaw and knife tools to create the geometry you need fro the fins and pull the others in...

For more help, check out our vehicle modeling videos at www.kurvstudios.com/lightwave (http://www.kurvstudios.com/lightwave)

Good luck!!

Hi guys.

Good question Colkai, I'd need it shipped to the Uk too.

Thanks for your suggestions guys. I'll try them all out. However, I dont have the cash for the Maclaren right now. But I'd love to try it some time. Anyone actually bought that tutorial yet. Looks amazing

Cheers
