Hi all, i'm Teg, a french cinema4D user and here is the link to my first artwork I want you to have a look at :
MPEG4 (need Quicktime6)
www.tegatwork.com/testfiles/sodilacmp4.zip
DivX
www.tegatwork.com/testfiles/sodilac.avi
And, as a teaser, here is 2 pics, one from video footage, and the other a CG composite :

Thanks for the compliment! ;-)
What about the video? Did you see it? I'm really sorry about my so slow ISP, but I think they worse the wait... well, I hope they worth the wait :hmm: :)

something about the bumb and specular i think...
wow! how did you create that grass? can you post a wireframe please? great image! photorealistic
and how did you do that grass?
One thing: radiosity. in the real photograph there is some green light coming to the ball from the grass. If cinema 4d doesn't support radiosity, or if it cannot be used here, add a dim green light under the ball. That should do it.

shadows on the ball look a lot darker than shadow in the rest of the scene. I agree with Juzz, there should be some green from the grass and base. Otherwise, good work. :p
the pic is a photo right? you have just implemented the ball into it...
First of all, thanks you all for the comments...
You're right for the radiosity, there must be some green refraction on the ball... but the pict is just a test, in order to put my lights, for the final compositing (the movies). As the movies don't show the ball on the floor, I havn't used a composite floor for the radiosity (yes, Cinema4D does radiosity, and it does it good and fast!)
Yes, the background is a picture (so I havn't made the grass :P)
For the shadows, you're right... there a bit too strong...
Nobody tld me about the movies... nothing to say about it?

I think a reason why no one is commenting on your movie is that they can't download it? :hmm:
I just tried using it using ADSL and not only was it dog slow but it stopped at 84%
Damned!
Well, I really must change my host...
Please give it another chance... It worked find (even if slow) for another forum (www.frenchcinema4d.com), so it must work here too... maybe everybody tried to download it in the same time...
Please, try again...
i think the packages to which the ball mutates into have too much movement... more precisely rotation. dont you think it would be better if they moved just a little? like in really slow motion? that would create the effect of the ball slowing up in mid air... like an ultra rapid snapshot of another time dimension.
i hope you get my point :)
yeah, I got it ;-)
Well, you're right it could have been nice...
But, in fact, I done that job in one night, and no time to make a second try ;-) But... you're idea is pretty nice... I'll keep it in mind for another time...
Finally, somebody seen the video ;-)
otherwise, the rendering with the 3d implemented into the film is good. i have nothing to comment there.

the first one looks awesome, thought i think the specular is a tiny bit too high... the bump mapped one doesn't look as good as the first. Somehow i think the lighting is different on the 2nd, the shadows are longer.
Great work nonetheless.
Clondike7, your mistake is a pleasure for me!
In fact, first one is 100% video screenshot, no CG, and the second is the same screenshot with a CG balloon...
thanks to have searched the differences ;-)

It looks as if the ball is a little slow to come off the kick.
That's just what I see.
Great render. I agree about the radiosity
Xtitan, thanks for the comment
It seems slow, but in fact, it's even faster than the real shot (which was out of the goal)!
We are used to see soccer shots, which are pretty fast, but in rugby, the ball makes some rotations, and a curve, so, it's not as fast...
Thanks again

not bad Teg, I do have to agree that there is some strange motion problems. But I think it is more from the angle of seeing the ball come at the camera. It starts slow and then speeds up too much maybe. But all in all, it's a really good job.

teg i thought it was a a good composition, and you did all this in C4D? including the compositing? the only ding i have is it seems the ball is coming off the kicking t a wee slow, but other than that the rest of the balls flight looks pretty good. i though it was pretty sweet for a quick turn around!
P.S. being a rugby fan i would to do some cg in a rugby setting, not a big chance of that here in the states tho.
Yes, Danoku, everything has been made in Cinema4D, no post-process, even in photoshop... What you see is what C4D rendered.
In fact, I used photoshop before, frame after frame, in order to erase de real ball and 2 trucks in the background.
Yes, working in a rugby environment was a real pleasure!
Thanks for your comments
