I often use the fprime preview window to render stills for WIP or just small finished works etc....but anyway sometimes i have a problem saving the pic. Sometimes after rendering a pic for a while, when i hit the "save" button and it just fails to respond. All the other buttons work, like camera, pause/unpause, and fit view, just not the "save" button... I was just wondering if anyone else had this problem before, and/or a solution to it. If not, i can always just take screenshots.... (or fprime render hehe)...but tahts a pain :P

Yeah...I've had that happen to me a few times too, running FPrime 1.02 on LW 7.5. The only way around it that I've found is to save your scene and restart LW, or use the alternatives you already mentioned.

Since the same data that LW is loaded with, are reloaded by FPrime (cause FPrime actually is a separate application) there is a memory handling problem. FPrime keeps loading/saving files and is manouvring to bypass some bottlenecks.

So, quiting LW and restarting is essential to allow for the applications to breath fresh air.
Hopefully these problems wont exist, as both LW and FPrime will come closer.

This bug is a annoying but easily avoidable. As smart as Steve is, this is just one of those things that slipped by. It seems that there is a 25 character limit to the save file name, it will save but only one time, then a LW restart is in order. Keeping your save file names to less than 25 characters will keep FPrime and LW on track. When I contacted Worley concerning this he stated that he has indeed fixed this and is working feverishly on other enhancements to FPrime, but as usual things are taking longer than expected.

aha!...wow thanks snosrap, i think that just may be it, as this file's name was factory_interior_lighting_test1.jpg LOL ....and this is the first time it has happened in a while, so this is prolly it. THanks for this information :D

heh, thats good to hear. I saw the case from a different point of view.

I was lucky to use FPrime with simple paths and filenames so it didnt crash on me.
