Started re-doing all in max...
I need some feedback about the landing gear (mow I don't have any idea how it should look like) - any ideas would be greatly apreciated:beer:

awsome AZ. Love those straps :bounce:

One crit, that seat looks pretty uncomfortable :) I think it's because the pad at the top of the back. Think of the shape of the spine. :) It's all about the ergonomics

Damn, i had the same basic idea, though nowhere near as cool! i kick ass man! You said youre using wings3d but how are you getting it so smooth? Are you using an external renderer/app or something?

Baal

Impressive work with the details! At first, I saw the smoothed picture that looked empty and such and I said like ouch, but with all the details and stuff, it's beautiful! Keep up the good work!:applause:

Thanks, guys

@Goon: I used wings3d only for first, rough model, kinda sketch in 3d. Wings is not very suitable for technical, mechanical modeling - its for organic modeling mainly. So I redone almost everything in MAX...

I have some ideas about pilot, will post something soon.

In the meanwhile, little update. Added rotors and some details, and landing gear:

bigger:
http://www.azazel.3d.pl/wip/4_BIG.JPG

and that's the only way to view this model in a decent framerate. My graphics card is overheating...:annoyed:

aah, and some close-up:

I really really love it!
you got my vote for sure!!
and I'm really impatient how the pilot will be... because this vehicle lets choose very well the style you want for the pilot (an animal? an human? cartoon? waterworld fiml style? )

@Pabbloz: waterworld style pilot sounds nice :) or rather cartoony waterworld style...

For now I have done little sketch of pilot's head:

http://www.azazel.3d.pl/wip/pilot_concept.jpg

and modelled (wings, than max):

http://www.azazel.3d.pl/wip/pilot_head.jpg

I know he needs lot more detail...

pabbloz
08-17-2002, 11:50 AM
yes! I really like the sketch of the head's pilot! and it's a great transition to 3D! I'm happy if the waterworld suggestiong inspire you to find more ideas about the desing! good! :)

it's a very nice render too... it will be the final or you have tought something different? (I think in a dark-blue scene lighted by a big moon and this pilot trying to controllate the hard-driving vehicle would funny!).

What about the glasses can rotate over the ball-ear to use them?

really waiting for the rest of the body!
Great work!

I had some problems with finding what kind of body would fit this head...:buttrock:, finally decided for tall, thin body with big hands, dressed in standard pilot wear, but stitched from parts of different materials (that's where waterworld thing goes:) )
Nothing to post yet, working hard on it...

pabbloz: I have no idea for final rendering now, thanks for monnlight suggestion

Looking very nice azazel................The vessel looks to have a good amount of intricate details and at the same time has that "Between" the real World look and the cartoon World.........Your pilot looks real fun too. It's one of the most interesting and in overall aspects best of the challenge thus far............keep up the great work.................:applause:  :)

made rough pilot's body... no details yet, now the task is to make his clothing ragged 'n' stitched from many pieces:

azazel your pilot is looking very stylish!!!. ..I like the feel of it so far. good idea with the ragged 'n' stiched clothing...his hands could use some more work too i think, they seem a bit flat at the moment. Keep up the good work and lets see more updates!!

thanks, Fetus23
I know the hands (or rather gloves) need some tweaking, as everything;)

pabbloz
08-20-2002, 02:09 PM
I like the style of the pilot! because his body seems very "humanoid" in proportions but then you see his cartoon head and is really funny! :D

I think you can now start to add details! :wip: toc ! toc !

azazel
08-20-2002, 05:07 PM
added some details:
http://www.azazel.3d.pl/wip/pilot6.jpg

I made some UVW editing to add some details via bump maps, but max f***ed 'em all. I'm mad...:annoyed:

I'm back... ten days away from computers...:annoyed:

Preliminary posed pilot in the vehicle , but now I see so many flaws in rig, and my comp is working so slowly that I decided pilot probably won't be present in my final entry, or will be hidden somewhere in the shadows... Don't have enough time now, so I'd like to concentrate on the details of the vehicle.
