Applicants should be able to demonstrate experience on major feature films and posses strong Maya, PhotoShop, AfterEffects and/or shake skills. Applicants should have a strong design sensibility. Experience producing conceptual art would be an asset. A traditional arts background with painterly and/or sculptural expertise developing a variety of looks and/or styles ranging from the fantastic to photo-real is desirable. JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
1. Adhere to the Supervisor’s expectations for each shot.
2. Manage workflow and provide creative direction for junior matte painters.
3. Utilize storyboards, story reels, script excerpts, set layout and art direction whenever possible.
4. Create models, textures and light scenes as required to plan a shot.
5. Prepare in broad strokes 3D and 2D projects to hand off to junior matte painters.
6. Block in movements through animation and/or save states of workflow for daily approval and discussion.
7. Complete assignments on time and to Technicolor standard of quality.
JOB SPECIFICATIONS
· Ability to work collaboratively.
· Must be open to direction, be able to reciprocate direction and problem solve.
· Strong understanding of animation principles.
· An art background, which shows a thorough understanding of physical
motion, weight, balance, texture, color, composition and form. Artistic sensibility needed in
the areas of animation, modeling, texturing and lighting.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
· Degree or certificate in computer generated animation or in a related field of study,
or equivalent work experience.
