JOB SUMMARY:
Applicants should be able to demonstrate experience on major feature films and posses strong Maya and general photoshop skills. In addition to building, texturing and lighting models, the 3D Maya artist develops motions, gestures and expressions of three-dimensional computer graphics characters and objects through creative collaboration and direction of VFX Supervisors, Sequence Supervisors and/or Animation Directors. JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Utilize storyboards, story reels, script excerpts, set layout, and art direction when available. Adhere to the supervisor’s expectations for each shot.
Create models, textures and lighting as required to plan shot.
Block in movements in rough animation to show for the necessary approvals and daily reviews.
Finish in a timely manner.
JOB SPECIFICATIONS
Must have a reel that demonstrates application of the principles of animation to tell a story with meaning through movement.
Ability to work collaboratively.
Must be open to direction and able to embrace change.
Strong understanding of animation principles.
An art background, which shows a thorough, understanding of physical motion, weight, balance, texture, and form. Artistic sensibility needed in the areas of animation, modeling, and lighting.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Degree or certificate in computer generated animation, or related field, or equivalent
Minimum of 2 to 5 years experience on high-end, photo realistic commercial and/or feature animation projects.
Knowledge of 3D animation software: Maya or Houdini; rendering software: Renderman or Mental Ray; operating systems: Unix, Linux and Windows NT/2000
