I'm a Maya user trying out Lightwave - just for the fun of it. Okay, here's one hell of a newbie question,

So far I have been controling Lightwave's camera using the three small icons in the top right area of the viewport. It's a bit tedious though. In Maya I use alt + mouse buttons :) Is there a similar way of managing the camera in Lightwave?

Thanks

yes, if you use alt + drag mouse you can drag your view around, and "," and "." will zoom out and in respectively.

sorry, that was a modeller answer...
in layout using the move (t) and rotate (y) tools when in camera view, and with the camera selected might help. Also pressing control and draging will move the camera relative to the view (try it and you'll see what i mean)

Well actually I _am_ most interested in Modeler... That's at least what I am using atm. Sorry if my initial post was a bit misleading.

Uhm yea I know I can use alt + mouse drag to turn the view. However, I don't know how to zoom in and out and "," and "." don't work. They only modify the grid units. I am using Modeler 8.0 by the way.

Also when I use alt + mouse drag the camera tends to tilt in an odd angle... oh well, I guess it's just different from Maya...

But hotkeys for zoom and pan please... :)

Modeler:

Move View= Alt+Shift+LMB Drag (persp. viewports) or just Alt+LMB Drag (orthogonal viewports)
Rotate View= Alt+LMB Drag (persp. viewports), not possible in orthogonal viewports (for obvious reasons)
Zoom View= Ctrl+Alt+ LMB Drag (all viewports)

Layout:

Same as Modeler, with a couple of exceptions:

Shift+Alt+LMB drag will move your view on the X and Z axes (persp. view)
Shift+Alt+RMB drag will move your view on the Y axis only (persp. view)
Alt+RMB drag will roll (bank) your view (persp. view)

When you have the Camera selected and are looking through your Camera View, the following applies:

t=Move, then LMB drag will move your view on the X and Z axes. RMB drag will move your view on the Y axis.
y=Rotate, then LMB drag will rotate your view freely in all directions. RMB drag will constrain rotation so that it rolls (banks) only.
