I have the QT saved from last night, but I don't have the bandwidth to burn mirroring it..if anyone does and would like to, let me know and I'll get it to you.
Very interesting stuff..not sure how the flow will be once it's edited, but it's definitely something different.

Yeesh my first reaction was that it looks like a try-hard student film. What's with the "here's the drawing, now here's how poorly we translate that drawing to film"?

Very nice. I've not read "Sin City" and I know nothing about story, characters, etc. The art to film looks pretty cool, if a bit heavy handed.

this was what they showed at comic con, thusly the panel to film/some of the random lines are there for us sin city fans to appreciate, I am sure a mass audience trailer will hit soon as well.
I think it looks great, but I love the source material to.

Well.... this is either going to be really cool or extremely corny. This trailer is leaning heavily towards corny. This is coming from someone who's been a Frank Miller fan since he was a kid and respects Robert Rodriguez very much. I don't like the fact that it looks like they are condensing several stories down into one film. They should have picked just one story and went with it.
For anyone who hasn't read the books, they are deffinitely entertaining and worth picking up, don't let this trailer scare you off :)

Very impressive indeed.
Quoted from IMDb's Sin Sity trivia page (http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0401792/trivia):
After a poor Hollywood experience in the early-'90s, Frank Miller (http://www.imdb.com/name/nm0588340/) refused to relinquish the movie rights to any of his comic works, "Sin City" in particular. Robert Rodriguez (http://www.imdb.com/name/nm0001675/), a longtime fan of the comic, filmed his own "audition" for the director's spot in secret. The footage, shot in early 2004, featured Josh Hartnett (http://www.imdb.com/name/nm0001326/) and Marley Shelton (http://www.imdb.com/name/nm0005420/) acting out the "Sin City" short-story "The Customer is Always Right". He presented the finished footage to Miller with the proclamation: "If you like this, this will be the opening to the movie. If not, you'll have your own short film to show your friends." Miller approved of the footage and the film was underway. Rodriguez also screened the footage for each of the actors he wanted to cast in the film - all of whom are reported to have been instantly amazed.
That's why that segment might be a little more stylized than the rest, and why it may feel a little different....

That YELLOW bastard!
Looks great, the original stuff is really good, diferent and very well conceived.
By the looks of it, seems it's been brought up in the same spirit as the original, and that can only end up in a major piece of art!
oh look, they made a "Max Payne" movie
Absolute spitting image of the game
and yes I know they probably rip that style from somewhere else themselves.

Actually you got it backwards.
The movie is based on a series of graphic novels by a man called Frank Miller pusblished in the 90's (and they are based on Film noir movies of the 30's and 40's).
The style of the movie is exactly like the one on the books.

Uh, dude. You do realize that Frank Miller illustrated the Sin City comics long before there was a Max Payne video game right?
The style in the movie is exactly like that of Frank Miller's comics. If anything, Max Payne ripped off Frank Miller.
Frank Miller's Sin City Series (http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/search-handle-url/index%3Dstripbooks%26field-keywords%3Dfrank%20miller%20sin%20city%26results-process%3Ddefault%26dispatch%3Dsearch/ref%3Dpd%5Fsl%5Faw%5Ftops-1%5Fstripbooks%5F5304497%5F1/002-7934478-7498458)

Visually I think it's awesome. The only concern I have is the dialogue . . . that kind of over the top pulp prose works when read, but I'm not totally convinced it isn't going to seem cheesy when it's actually spoken . . . still quite stoked for the movie. I hope I'm wrong.
I'd love to see a similar adaptation of Miller's "300" miniseries about the Spartans battling the Persians . . . I think it was some of his better work.

Did anyone else notice how the chick that was holding the gun by the dresser suddenly is now wearing a bra? She had been topless in that one 5 minute clip that was posted long before the trailer; I wonder if they changed it in post to avoid an NC17 rating.
Compare screens available upon request. :D ;)

Excellent trailer. I am extremely impressed with the comic to film adaptation. Congrats Leigh! (Did you move from SA to CafeFX?) If you run across Christina or Dan (both compers), tell them I said hi. I'm not sure if Christina is still there, she may have come back up to the Bay area.

it looks to me like they reshot it. seems a bit easier than replacing/adjusting things digitally. especially when you're shooting high def.

max payne style is much closer to the punisher cover art by timothy bradstreet than sin city to max payne. the amounts of black and the inclusion of colour between the two makes a huge difference.
