I was about to buy a low end $150 ish video converter to hook my computer up to the vcr (or camcorder) to make my videos into cd's or dvd's or stills. Then it occured to me that I might be able to use Adobe Premiere Pro to do just that and only have to buy the cord with usb on one end and rca on the other. Is this possible?

I dont have Pemiere installed right now and new comp is comming so I wont install till then - so I cant access help files and my book tells me nothing. I also searched this site and adobe for the answer, but i'm not sure i'd know it if i saw it.

Thanks

I have tried it my self but I would think you could. Just plug the VCR in as a Capture device. If you computer reads the VCR as a capture device then Adobe should too. Good Luck!

A VCR is an analog device, you will need a converter to get the data into a digital form the computer can understand.

it isn't as simple as pluging in the vcr to your pc. Premier will capture the video fine, but you need a device to convert the data from analog to digital. These come in the form of capture cards, and fire-wire or usb periferals. Even some digital camcorders can be used to converd data.
