View Full Version : Max 5 sweet new Render engines
BigSerge 08-08-2002, 11:29 PM Okay so discreet has done a sweet job. I got my Upgrade this week and decided to check out the rendering all with defaultsettings on a character I'm working on. I am impressed, plus R5 loads faster and renders faster than R4 (I'm running on a dual PIII 1Ghz) and i can tell the difference. Finally may I add that yes my R4 digimation plug-ins (shaig-Hair and Particle studios) seem to register and run just fine. 3 cheers to discreet with this upgrade is all I have to say :)

Some things definately do render faster than ver 4, but other things are INSANELY longer. The quality is much better as well though. Used to be able to spot a default max render EASILY now it'll be a bit tougher. The ink and paint seems to render PAINFULLY slow as well for as simple as it is. With the majorly long render times i can't see it being overly popular as i remember plugins like illustrate, etc rendering much much much faster.

Not to be rude, but I don't see anything exciting happen in those renders. The first three look the same, except for some little color difference. The fourth render looks like the ambient light level is set too high.
Inkt renders look nice though! How does it behave in a animation?

How about render comparison between the old version 4 and new version 5?
