View Full Version : Fatal Error!!

Hi,

how can I avoid to get the error message "Fatal Error: Attempting to save ..." ?
Maya tries to save a temp file, but it can't. I don't know why. There's enough disk space left (around 1 GB).
This error even occurs when I move and sew UV's in the UV Texture Editor and in some other situations.
The only thing I can do is to click on the OK-Button. Then Maya terminates...
Any advices?
Thanks in advance.

lutz

bugs like that usually go hand in hand with the grafics cards dirvers.. at least often..

maybe you can have some lick changin the driver version.. maybe even down to 12.41 if you use a geforce card since that one was certified by alias ..

good luck.. since otherwise you have a severe problem

cheers

Saving problems can have relations to graphics card problems?

It's not a saving problem. That's a general error message you get when Maya crashes.

It's basically telling you "I'm crashing now, so I'll try to save your work, but don't count on it."

thanx victor.. made myself not really clear.

and what maya really means is:
" i am crashing now and i save sme stuff that i still have in memory - whatever that may be.. "
:argh:

no warranty that this is a gfx related problem.. that was only a guess..

but get a geforce 2 pro and patch it to a quadro card.. really nice performance for low bucks

Thanks.
I assume that there's a relation between graphic problems I had and this error message.
Very often hardware texturing is not performed right or not at all. So this error message seems to be the 2nd problem of maybe many that follow *shiver*.
I need a new graphics card anyway. So thanks a lot for your advice!

GeForce2 Cards are not qualified by A|W or is Geforce2 GTS Pro totally different?

quadro cards are qulified.. :)

regular cards are not qualified because of the lacking overlay functions..
but i think the patch even fixes that. but you dont have the settings in the system menu from windows i think

I tried to buy a graphics card with the GeForce2 GTS Pro Chip, but was not able to find one in Berlin (Germany).
Can anyone of you point me to a place where I can buy it? It seems that NVIDIA does not produce this chip anymore so these graphics cards are rare now.
Or any other graphics card that works with the softquadro patch?
Thanks in advance.
