Hi!

I've been testing Combustion and, coming from AE background, one thing I can't figure out. Does Combustion has a Depth Of Field for Camera in 3d Composition mode a la After Effects (meaning layers get blurred depending on distance to camera)??

Are you talking about DOF on 3D rendered graphics? I am new to Combustion myself, but if you save your files as *.RPF or another format that saves the Z-depth info, you should be able to load it up and apply a 2D blur based on the grayscale information in the *.RPF file.

Does this make sense? When you save the z-depth, you get a channel that gives each object in the scene a greyscale value based on their proximity to the camera. Close things are lighter grey, distant things are dark grey/black. The 2D blur applies the blur based on this greyscale.

Nop, not that I'm aware of.

I'm not sure but you might be able to link the position of the camera to a Depth of Field or Compound Blur operators trough expressions to control that.

There is a Layer DOF expression example at:

Might give you some ideas.

See ya,

Thanks guys!

mr_wowtrousers: No, I didn't meant DOF for rendered images but thanks anyway :)
diogo girondi: Thanks for the link but it seems to be a quite rude hack and works only if you facing layers straight ahead. Too bad Combustions doesn't have this feature. It's good tool when creating titles/motion graphics in AE.

I have to agree, C* camera options are a bit limited.

Well go with AE if you can :)
