Hi ,
it seem to be an OpenGl problem , try to update your videos drivers .

If there no better solution you should disable all textures. Perhaps switch to software rendering insted of using Opengl or DirectX. Just some Ideas. good luck.

have you try directx ?
have you these problems only with reactor ?
have you update max to 6.1 ?

You can also unistall/reinstall max , just for see if ...

:)

I understand , it's really an openGl problem.
you try to see your animation in Havok preview windows , this one work with openGL .

You can also see your animation directly in your viewport , that could be a solution ,
just go to : utilities > reactor > preview&animation > and check "Update viewport" , click on create animation , you can also use create animation in reactor toolbar .
You will not have the same interactivity as Havok windows , but you will see the result in real time .

Have you a matrox video card ?

Ahh im sry i should been more clear i ment to say that my animations dont work in the Havok preview window thats where the problem is not the max viewport, my mistake

Havok preview window does not work with openGL and when ever i clock on the preview window i get that setpixelformat failed error and max locks up

i have a quite new ATI radeon 9800 pro 256 with catalyst 4.9

It's a driver problem , sure , , or incompatibility with others , try to change your videos drivers with a previous version .

I know this is a bit old but the problem was never solved and might help someone in the furture looking for the same error.
I had the same problem and to fix it in the reactor display tab check the tick box for DirectX.
Works perfect for me now :)

hi again i found out what the problem was, it was the new ATI catalyst drivers 4.8 & 4.9 they gave me the problem with the oglgfx driver that was needed to run the OpenGL output window with reactor2 so i switched back to 4.7 that fixed all my problems,i also did noticed that 4.8 & 4.9 gave me some problems with Maya 6 as well with the hypershade and render output windows (all fixed with 4.7)

anywho thx for all your sugestions and help poeple!!

you dont have to change your viewport driver, just go to the Display rollout in the reactor utility and check "use Direct X". this pertains to the havok window and not the max viewport.

I just know Im going to sound like a screaming fool for asking this, but where is this mysterious Display rollout for reactor? I just cant seem to find it, and I cant help but feel its right under my nose...

heh heh! no worries Arne. It's actually a usefull rollout because you can lock a specific camera to the simulation (if you have multiple for eg) , specify lights, and control texture quality.
