Title: Little Robot
Name: Semir Saleh
Country: United Kingdom
Software: LightWave 3D

This was my first ever character model. It was completely done in lightwave 3d 8 (modelling, surfacing, rigging, rendering etc)I made the model completly off the top of my head...i didnt even have a sketches or anything..i just made the torso an thought...hey that looks good maybe i should give it a head and so on..the main problem for me was the hands.. i didnt know whether to make them human looking hand or some kind of claw and i have seen other peoples robot artwork and they all had human hands so to be different i gave him claws..

I wanted to make him as realistic as possible so he looks like a real little robot so i went on google and found some good HDR images and then stuck em in lightwave and here we are..and it worked so well that when i showed one of my friend he was kind of quiet when he saw it and i said..say something..do you like it..he said..its a photograph, you didnt make it...and that was good news for me..ha ha but maybe he was on crack, i dont know....anyway feel free to comment because i'm always trying to improve everything i do

I think the metallic surface looks good.

Brilliant work for your first character ever! :) I really like the pose and the textures...

Only minus I can think of is perhaps the blur on the hands is too much

But still, keep it up, great work!

Got to agree about the blur . . .

but otherwise spot on! I love the proportions you went for, and he's nice and simple without looking like it was being lazy (so deliberately minimalist there!)

I'm jealous.

Wow nice work for your first character  .

I like the colors and the (?overall?) style. Maybe as said by the other guis, the blur is a little to strong....

I like it! Looks like some kind of scouting/spying device... Despite the metallic look.

i think the blur makes it look better. since its supposed to be a small guy, when you go macro on a camera your depth of field usually shrinks. thus lending to the tiny look of it.

or something.

A Real Newbie Question: how did you make those black colored edges?

That is a newbie question but i was once a newbie too...i made the black rings by basically selecting the polygons around where i wanted the rings to be and changed the surface to the black look...and also thanks for everyones comments
