I like it! The character has an own style, it's not just ripped off. He seems to be more "lazier" and slower than the original Lumiere, the character and the environment are very good.

Great model but compositionally it's a little sparce and the lighting is a little flat. Also, the shadow underneathe does not look correct. I think it would be more diffuse and you'ld see shadows overlapping with three wicks burning. I'd like to see a blown up cropped version featuring the character more prominately. He looks very expressive. The wax shading is great. You mentioned this was an animation project, do you have the animation posted somewhere. I'd love to see it!
thx :bounce: :bounce:
cause this a scanline render shadows and light are faked
no softshadows no raytracing no gi
i lost my free webspaces so i can't post the animation but if anybody knows free webspace... would be very friendly

Yay!! That looks great. Wax shading is right on and the flames look great!! I also like the creases you've got in the stucture of the face. Looks very expressive. The brass material looks a bit more like varnished wood than metal. Probly due to the fact that it's in an empty envirnment (no reflctance) but also patialy due to the specular tranmission being somewhat diffuse and low key. I'd maybe work on improving the metal shading a little but it's still effective as is and I'm being super critical/nitpicky. Great job and thanks for posting. Hope these comments are useful and I don't sound like a jerk. :)
you used SSS for the candle's materials, didn't you??
Well?
CONFESS!!! :bounce:
Please show more... :D
thx anticz
metall is not very perfect i know but it's hard getting
good reflections without raytracing...
grey: this is no SSS just plain transluescene (forget how to write
it:rolleyes: ) you need raytracing or gi to get real 3S

hey fex, mir scheint, du hast grad zuviel Zeit :)
Jetzt hast du den Lumi doch noch gepostet.
Der Hintergrund kann definitiv mehr Malerei und Krimskrams vertragen (und vielleicht eine dramatischere Lichtstimmung);
aber immer noch: schee, schee!
So, ich geh jetzt ins Bett, muss morgen um 5 raus (o gott!)
Bis dann!

not bad, but the light only seems to be comming from the top candle (his head).
The other two candles should cast light (and shadow).
thx for all crits and comments:beer:
maybe someday i do a touch up for this char. and enviroment
and make it a bigger animation with a kind of story and maybe
a castle or a medival village....
