View Full Version : mini challenge #2 - Gate to a Tomb (Cyberdigitus)
Cyberdigitus 09-09-2004, 08:16 PM Hi, this is a fun challenge. I like working in clear constraints trying to get the most out of it.
this is a first attempt:

still have a triangle or 80 to spare, so i can add more grass shells or refine the whole a bit. the tree needs work too. textures are temporary, they're existing textures but cropped to be somewhere within the constraints. i guess i'll bake them out and modify them after i have a better uv layout.

dirty little hobit'ses...[couldn't resist]
howdy...this looks cool :)
if you have some spare polys, how about putting an inner layer for your leaves, rotate the uv a bit and make it smaller...instant foliage :D
good luck

this is prolly the nicest design ive seen so far of all the entries. really nice composition and it all works nicely too. excellent idea with the tree.

Looks nice! Maybe it is seeming a little bright and cheery for a tomb at the moment. It is a great start. :bounce:

hey!!
looks nice.
i would really try and get more depth to the tree though.
and perhaps try and not make it look so cheery :)
but who ever said that it had to look scary? not me.
up to you i guess.
good luck in the comp
cheers!!

Heh, i almost forgot about this mini-challenge. Spent some more time on the modeling. Hopefully i'll get the texturing done in time. Not sure how i will fit enough detail on them.

577 tri's now, and it even has the interior of the dome. I'll probably use those last few polys too somewhere.
