Hello,

I'm trying to mix a material that is using only the diffuse channel with a another material. The problem is when I apply the diffuse material to the model and assign the selection set that I want the diffuse to effect the color material does not show through. It could be that I dont know what I'm doing with the diffues channel because it only shows up black on the model. I have used noise in the diffuse channel.

Can somebody point me in the correct direction so I can fix this problem? I have done a search but did not find anything on this subject.

From let to right, If the diffuse material is the very last material in the object manager than it will be the top most layer and all layers to the left of it will not be seen. If you want the other layers to be seen you have to check "mix textures" in the texture tags to the right.. Also if on the diffuse material all you have checked is the diffuse channel and nothing else, then there is no other color input and it's not going to add anything to your textures anyway. Look at the material preview, it's probably a black sphere.

Yes all I have is diffused with a noise function in that channel. So how do I apply a diffused effect to just part of my model? Here is a pic of wjat I'm trying to do. I have a face and want to diffuse the beard part of the face.

Can you make a copy of that same skin material you're already using, and apply the noise to the diffuse channel of the new skin material, and then apply that material to the selection tag?

Ah that worked. Not what I wanted it to be but it worked. Thanks for your help. I guess I will just do it in BP.
