View Full Version : Rigging Q: "always center root bone between foots" How?

When you build a basic human rig,
you can make the root bone's position to be always in the middle of the foots.
THus making it easier to create a walkcycle animation.

Does it require a script or is there a way to do it with weighted position constraints?

What are the drawbacks of such a method during animating? Thx fo helping.

From memory theres a controller you can assign to the position of the root bone. In Motion - Assign Controller - Position, you can assign a Position Constraint to it that lets you pick 2 objects to stay between. pick either your two feet, or create 2 dummies inside the feet and pick them. (If you do this remember to link the dummies to the feet first)
