Hey all!

Welp, here goes my first ever cgtalk challenge. I must admit that I have been more than impressed with the work I've seen in the past. In fact, I've found a lot of the work I've seen to be inspiration and motivation to keep me interested in learning more! I'm still relatively green when it comes to modeling 3d stuff..
ANYHOW.. here are 3 sketches.. I don't know if I'll get around to modeling the actual character or not, but I'll certainly try.

I based my flying machine on what I thought could be constructed out of household stuff.. note the use of the bicycle as the "engine" of the contraption. I'll admit that I seriously doubt anyone could ever peddle fast enough to spin helicopter blades to produce the lift required! But hey, that's the fantasy/cartoony element to it I guess. :-) Critiques and comments are welcomed! I hope to model this thing:

Here's my pilot.. rough sketch. I need more work on him..he's too generic

just a rough sketch of the contraption

I like the way everything flows together. Good design work. I agree with not being able to pedal fast enough that's why use suspension of disbelief.
Character looks cool too.
The telescope IS a cool touch, I like the version on third drawing. Keep posting can't wait to see an update.:airguitar

Very cool Clockwertz. Your sketches look good. They look like very homemade aircrafts. Just make sure your model comes out the same way. So far it looks like a very nice model of a bicyle. Hope to see it turned into a cyclecopter! Keep it up. :p

Here's the bike done.. I'll be removing the rear tire when I start constructing the rest of the contraption. I also added the barrel, what I have of it so far.. the way I did it was to do textporter to the barrel, add black lines on photoshop, and then do a bump map.. any ideas as to how else I could do it? I can always model individual planks I guess.

Here's the latest update.. I have to change the bike's seat, as a friend of mine has pointed out. :-) Once the bike was turned vertical, it stuck out like a sore thumb. Any other CRITS and COMMENTS are most certainly welcomed.:wavey:

Here's the update with the bike seat fixed.. I removed the image just above that had the old seat. I also started the cushion on the barrel.
