View Full Version : Aw fiddlesticks!!! Home Page Virus
Hey guys...
Everytime I open up a new windows explorer it brings me to "Home Search" with this url (res://mshp.dll/index.html#20635). I admit...I DO surf adult websites and I'm sure that's where I got it. My brother had the same problem and he purged his laptop and it worked...but unfortunately, I don't know how and don't want to because I have wayyy too much stuff on my computer that I hold dear. Anywho...is there anyway I can get rid of this stupid thing without totally messing with my computer?
Also...is there anyway I can PREVENT it (other than staying away from the sites)?

i havnt actually gone thru and figured out how to get rid of the virus (too lazy) but the best way to prevent such things.. short of not visiting those sites would be to install some anti virus software like AVG (free) or something similar
Also you can try this, its a free online virus scanner that will try and clean things out for you if you cant get your hands on anything else because of the virus... but i definately recommend a some software that stays on your system to help prevent such an issue from happening

It could be caused by a java script file in you windows directory that gets run, so even if you change the home page, it will revert back. Virus software, or even just a spyware removal program should do the trick.

That's a different problem. The other problem was that I couldn't access certain pages at all. THIS problem is that my homepage is always something different, even if I try to reset it. I'm gonna try what imashination told me to do and we'll see what happens.
