Hey, I made a Wings3D How To video that goes over the basics that every winger should know.

It's 32 minutes long
50mb
800x522 resolution
perfect quality

VIDEO

Official link will be back up in a couple days

~ MIRROR By klicek ~

http://www.gorzow.mm.pl/~klicek/vt/Wings3Dhowto.avi (http://www.gorzow.mm.pl/%7Eklicek/vt/Wings3Dhowto.avi)

btw some people may have trouble watching this, if so just download this, it is a media player made specifically for the codec used in compressing the video (techsmith codec)

PLAYER

The player might go back up, depending on demand

OR THE CODECS

get the official techsmith codec here

and for those of you on mac osx

and mac os9

I have put notes all throughout it, telling you about the various things im doing and some things that your not seeing. Personally I feel its very informative.

If there are any mistakes or notes people feel I should add just tell me and I will fix it all up :)

BTW, half way through the vid (or so) I accidentally switch out of wings, thats a mistake on my part which I will have to get rid of, but while I do that enjoy the mostly complete version :)

Enjoy.

EDIT: also if anyone wants to mirror this, that would rock because this is really gonna eat up my bandwidth big time.. Ill probably end up taking it down once my bandwidth is almost gone, but Ill put it back up next month :D

EDIT2: also if anyone wants to convert this into another format of equal or almost equal quality that would be great as well :) providing the mb count is 50 or so (or even lower?)

EDIT3: Everything but the one mirrored link has been taken down. The one thing I will put back up is the actual vid, but if people need the codec/s and the player I'll put those up too.

Very very good work Mike! This will help ALOT of people to get started on Wings!

I recommend it to everyone, it's only 32 minutes long. And worth every minute! :D

Not too bad,I can read it up pretty good on my 27 inch tv.

Note that you missed telling them they can maximise their 4 viewport setup by using the "Hide Toolbar" in the same menu as Fit Both(098.22c here)

To facilitate and please the viewer's experience, next time use a character in the scene so each x,y or z view is easily recognizable,it also helps plugging your own stuff.

Skipped through most of the rest except the last 10 minutes or so,it's a bit too long for a walkthrough and you do linger from time to time.

Instead of making it one big long file, why not make a series of videos demonstrating the tools separately, that'd save you bandwith and the others would save time.

Demonstrating a tool can be done in a few seconds according you do quote a situation in which it'd be useful.

Have a look at Paul's webpage for inspiration.

Take care

Thanks for the crit Stephan, thats pretty much what i was looking for :)

The way I see it is that most real users probably wont get anything out of this, but Im hoping if new users were able to be directed to this vid than it could answer alot of questions for them. Like I really dont expect many people to watch it through the whole thing, as it like you say does linger in some places.

Perhaps next time Ill make a bunch of little videos show each tool that I went over in this one, might be interesting. Although I would need to know if theres an interest for them heh..

Thanks alot for your comments man!

btw what did you mean by "it also helps plugging your own stuff" ?
