tim THP 08-08-2002, 01:11 AM hey guys,
first time i'm gonna try one of these - got no sketches yet but i wanna post the idea before someone else comes along in a similar vain. what i'm thinking is something along the lines of those da vinci sketches of flying machines, all wood and canvas and ropes and pulleys and just human muscle to power it! but i think i'll make it like a dragonfly shape. you lay down with it strapped to your back and flap your arms or peddle the bugger.
not sure - whadya think?:surprised
well, better get crackin':wip:

Sounds good. Do you have the pics? if i remember correctly weren't they really complex? Could be good if you can pull it off.

:surprised
Nice idea...! what kind of scale would this contraption exist in?
Normal human scale?
Or maybe a miniature human who uses the discarded parts of insects to create a flying machine!! so that he can escape the dangers his shrunken existence!!!
look forward to watching this one grow...

thnx james, glad you like!! probably still go the woodframe way, lots of slow arcing pieces held together with wooden pegs, schtuff like that. :p
gabe - if you got any good ref, please feel free to send it my way!:bounce:
will try to make the wood nice and rough cos even tho he was a master it was still the 16th century. but here's a quick test that hasn't been ruffed up yet! better do some actual work cos the last thing i need is more distraction, will get back with updates later!

Really cool!! :bounce:
At first I wanted to do a Da Vinci like flying machine, but the pics I found over the net weren't very good and the mecanism seems too much complex!!!
Hope you'll do it, will keep an eye on your thread. :)
Good luck!
