View Full Version : EXR for Maya?
09-06-2004, 08:06 PM
Does anyone know of a plugin for Maya to allow it to use ILM's EXR format (openexr.net (http://www.openexr.net))? We've been using it in Shake and Photoshop, but we'd like to render straight out to EXR from Maya or Mental Ray.
I couldn't find anything in this forum or the computer programming forum, and i can't get to highend3d for some reason.

Sandstrom > Downloads > Mental Ray Shader > Down the bottom right.
That's a direct link to the download.

i get this error message when trying to use the exr shader.
just in case it would work... where did i have to connect that shader, in order to save in exr?
is there a linkt o some kind of documentation on how to iuse those shaders?

I would also like to know where I can get something like a documentation...couldn't test it yet, but it could be no mistake to link the docs...
THX in advance

Got it to work, but It only renders the EXR File from within Maya...no output in batchmode...anyone got the same problems???
Next thing is, that I cannot use EXR-Files as Input for MR e.g. as filetexture ...it is documented in the mental ray reference but doesn't work...
thx in advance

Hi Guys, does anybody know a good HDR->EXR conversion tool???
anything i have found was behind this thread:
unfortunately Photosphere is only availabe for Linux or OS X
but i'm presently running a windows system :(
HDRShop 2 supports EXR, too bad it's not free
You can use : Photomatix Basic 1.0 ( free )
to convert from .hdr to .exr
