if i understand u correctly, all ur trying to do is rotate the view? right? just click, not hold, the middle mouse button, and move ur mouse. if u ever nd some info on tools, look at the bottom of the wings screen. it should tell u wat different mouse buttons do. also if u go to edit->preferences, there are different camera modes. so if ur used to maya, with alt + clicks, u can change it to function in that manner.
