I'm kinda stumped on this problem!

I have C4d 8.5 and Shave 2. I have a scene that I'm working on which is an interior shot with patio doors. Now you should be able to see the reflection of the fluffy cushion on the sofa through the glass but you can't! Not only that the hairs themselves do not show up.

Before anyone mentions it I've RT*M and no joy! I've added a shave tracer added to an environment object and opted for full hairs. My light tag is pointing towards my cushion and the light target is under my cushion mesh in the object hierarchy.

Here's my settings:

Hair Render Settings:
- Antialiasing: Medium
- Shadows 250 x 250
- Samples 20
- Jitter 3
- Self shadow checked
- Deep shadow checked
- Tiling 2
Shave Tracer - Full hair

Object Manager:

Light (object for cushion): Has a light tag and the target symbol

Environment (object): Has a shave tracer attached , followed by my hair material (the hair material is also on my cushion)- right most material.

Sofa
- Cushion (hypernurb)
- Cube (base cushion mesh)
- Light Target

Any ideas guys?

Hi MulaG,

A couple if things to check, you may have already if not see if; Use Shave is checked under Plugins>Shave (since the main hairs don't show), your post indicates you have a light with a target aimed at the cushion - do you have a light tag (Plugins>Shave>Light Tag) applied to the light and not a light target?

These may be things that you have already, if so post back and I'll check further...on the way out right now.

Hope this helps and Good Luck.

You need Shave 2.5 in order to run it properly on Cinema4D 8.5.

Not 100% true. Before I got Shave 2.5, I was running 2.0 in r8.5. A couple of things like procedurally textured hair didn't work properly, but that's mostly due to th change in the r8.5 material system. For the most part, Shave v2.0 runs fine in r8.5

Thanks Sam but I have checked and I do have a light tag on the lights and use shave is checked. I've got it working under combined render and it looks okay so I will stick with that for the mo.

Sulian?Cookepuss : I will stick with the version I have until I upgrade C4d to version 9!

Just get that hair material OFF the Environment object. You only need the shave tracer.
