Hi,

thanks for the response - it was done a while ago now... I guess the original brief was that it to be totally alien and that it makes it tougher to come up with something that you can tell what's going on straight away, than if you were doing something more conventional with an easy frame of reference.

Cheers

Thanks,

I'd like to revisit it at some point, so it's a bit easier to animate with - it would be fun to see it in motion.

Cheers

The volcano part of your pict is really outstanding ! I can't believe there's not more entries on that thread, with such a result !
I've been watching entries of the alienware contest for a while now, and I must say that the competition reached a very high level, both in technical and creative fields ! I would have been proud to be awarded in it.
Well done, man !

Thanks,

There were some great entries generally - I haven't been keeping up with the latest challenges though (need to sort my reel out)

waooo!! god, thats one of the most beautiful images iīve seen; i said in another trhead that the alien enviroments that i liked the most where the underwater one in "The Abyss" and the alien planet in "Contact" and these one reminds me of that two, but it has itīs own style; i would love to see an animation within that envoriment, really, great work :bounce:

Thank you for the kind words,

I'd love to do an animation at some point, but I want to rebuild the scene so it's a bit more flexible regarding camera positions etc.

from the looks of it the modeling and the glow effects look great. More colors and tonal contrasting could make this piece look so much better. The blue and purple hues seem to dull down the pic for me. The motions of the alien technology in the foreground could maintain its color. thats it! The environment! needs more of a alienlike sky. Clouds...alienClouds...WierdAlienCLouds...wow, that'll make it look perfect. alien clouds. with a perfect color to match the depressing hue...what color........hmmm. don't really know. Red maybe, hmm.White!. yeah white. White Sky with red clouds! hell yeah. if thats the case than the fog under the alienmachines should maintain its white color but have its outer edge gradient to a red. Wow. did i just write that.

Hi,

there was never really a sky as such, I originally imagined that the top left would be the roof or the other side of a wall (as if you were looking down a huge hole).

I've never been particularly happy with the top left, maybe a sky would work, or holes punched through the back to a sky so it's not just a horizon...

Heh, thanks - I do like my dinos... I'm really looking forward to the Kong vs Dinos fight in King Kong.

I'd like to do some replacement, I think i need to pick an obscure one that doesn't appear very often...

Cheers
