View Full Version : Graphics card...
MrMastermind 08-07-2002, 02:14 PM I'm probably one of many who asks this question, but I'll ask it anyway, what would be a good graphics card to use with Cinema 4D ? What would make me go buy a Wildcat instead of a Geforce4?

nothing - cinema does not take advantage of the graphics card!!

So then the processor does all the work in Cinema, when rendering? And what about the viewports using OpenGL?

No app will take advantage of a graphics card for rendering. As for the editor, The difference wouldn't be as great between those two cards as it would for say max or LW. C4D doesn't take huge advantage of OGL features, though R8 is really optimized for speed, partly because of the fact it doesn't do those tiny extra things that can be done in Max and LW editors. I would recommend a Geforce 4 to save the money and perhaps by more ram or something to speed up your overall workflow.

I moved recently from a Gforce2 to a Gforce4 4200 ti.....much better! I still don't like Cinemas OGL option as there seems to be a distinct distortion of objects......will this be better in v8....will there ever be any support for high end cards?
