CGTalk - Viewport display Q.

Hi, I have a bit of a problem , I am not sure if this is my graphic card or if it is a setting in xsi.
When I have an object in the viewport that is not subdivided, it looks grey. When I subdivide the object , I see it as expected.
Picture attached explains better.
Notice that the small cube in the near the laptop however looks OK.
THese objects were imported as OBJ.
Anyone know how to fix this?

There is a User-Normals addon somewhere out there... might try checking XSI base. That will let you manipulate your normals interactively.

But what you could try first is to select all the edges, then Model->Modify->Component->Mark Hard Edge/Vertex. Then I think you toggle the op Off... then freeze the object. Or something like that. Heh, it's been a while but I know there is a way to 'reset' the normals on the object using the hard edge command. Or was it Set Edge value... :P

You were right about the user normals.
I got some more help over at xsibase.
The solution: deleting the user normals under geometry/cluster/user normals.
